Have you tried booting with radeon.audio=1 option?

Basically, edit the /etc/default/grub file, find the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT
line, and add radeon.audio=1 so it looks like:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash radeon.audio=1"

Save the file, quit the text editor, and then run the following command:
sudo update-grub

Reboot, and see if there's audio.
