Thanks Christopher.

I uninstalled Virtual Box and reinstalled all 4 mainline kernel packages
successfully (no warnings and no errors).  I restarted my machine and
sadly this didn't fix the issue.  Still no wired network.  I uninstalled
the 4 mainline kernel packages.  I added the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-
upstream' per Joseph's request.
