Well, well, well. A small surprise has happened today after upgrading my
Gutsy Gibbon. The gnome-power-manager suddenly has the long gone slider
for "display brightness" back again. I was very happy ... until I
realized that moving the slider didn't dim the brightness of my Sony
Vaio VGN-FS196V at all. So, I'll wait again until it becomes possible to
dim the brightness again at least over the gnome-power-manager slider -
without the need of compiling and trying different tools and patches
that, in the end, do not work. And maybe, some someday in the future,
the FN keys will work, too ...
