Hi Paul,
with last upload all not-essential ubuntu pref tweaks went intentionally
into ubufox extension which is a recommends of firefox and will be
installed by ubuntu-desktop soon.
In this way users can still get back to genuine ffox upstream behaviour
by disabling this extension Add-Ons dialog.
If you still see problems with ubufox installed, please file a bug
against ubufox.
