I managed to get the laptop today and have installed the 3.6.0, 3.6.3
and 3.7.0-rc2 mainline kernels with the following results:

3.6.0
- Hardware Wireless light is on
- No wireless option under network manager
- No wlan0 adapter in ifconfig

3.6.3
- Same as above

3.7.0-rc2
- Same as above

However I did notice the following line when installing the 3.6.0 kernel:
ERROR (dkms apport): kernel package linux-headers-3.6.0-030600-generic is not
supported
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 3.6.0-030600-generic
(x86_64)
Consult /var/lib/dkms/bcmwl/5.100.82.38+bdcom/build/make.log for more
information.

In make.log the following is shown:
/var/lib/dkms/bcmwl/5.100.82.38+bdcom/build/src/wl/sys/wl_linux.c:43:24: fatal
error: asm/system.h: No such file or directory

So it seems that the C header file asm/system.h is not present for all
three of the mainline kernels.

I have attached the output from dpkg and make for all installs.
