  Hello,

After having upgrading Ubuntu 12.04 (kernel 3.2.0-32 ) to 12.10 (kernel
3.5.0-17), the boot sequence randomly fails. It stops when showing

I first thought about an ACPI problem, but after having tried different
acpi options or disabling acpi, the problem persists. The recovery mode
  does not work too.

Strangely, when reverting back to 3.2.0-32, now it fails too. While
  3.0.0-22 still works.

I've attached some dmesg files of successful and unsuccesful boots
(where logging seems interrupted in the middle of a line, each time at a
different location). Also note that as far as the dmesg files are not
compressed, they are readable, then later when the system rotates and
gzip them (e.g., .dmesg.4.gz), they are corrupted (zcat or gzip report
errors [gzip: dmesg.4.gz: unexpected end of file] and vim cannot
  decompress them on the fly).
