Hi Jelmer,
Thanks for your mail, I am returning to this stuff after years so am
only just finding my way around this "Buntu" stuff. To be honest or
dishonest if you like! I did not really intend to upgrade from 12.04 to
12.10 but shit happens? Also I run this stuff on an old machine with an
AMD 3000 processor hence the Host name. Not old in my terms but getting
on a bit in computing terms.
So to answer your question I sniffed about a bit and got these bits out
of various files
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1 AMD-3000
# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
# Change this to the workgroup/NT-domain name your Samba server will part of
workgroup = molenet
septicdave@AMD-3000:~$ ifconfig
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0c:76:95:aa:6e
inet addr:192.168.1.10 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
inet6 addr: fe80::20c:76ff:fe95:aa6e/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:7940 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:8080 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:6427407 (6.4 MB) TX bytes:1391299 (1.3 MB)
Hope this helps if you want more I am well up for a bit more sniffing,
will go very well with the stinker of a cold I got from her indoors.
regards
sniffy Dave.
I bet you already guessed that Roger is a alter ego type thingy
