(didn't see the request for more information, but did see the expiry notice. weird.)
"did you mess around with manual symlinks yourself?" After I attempted to fix the problem with multiple installs of the packages suggested, I made a symlinks in /usr/local/bin/. I should hope that making a symlink in /usr/local/bin/ would not demolish the /etc/alternatives/ ecosystem. Upgraded to 12.10 since this bug was filed. I had four alternatives for '/usr/bin/jar' after upgrading to 12.10. Wiped them all out, removed the /usr/local/bin/ symlink. Reinstalled package 'openjdk-7-jdk' and dependencies (not recommendations nor suggestions). $ update-alternatives --list jar /usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-i386/bin/jar Please mark this issue as obsolete/ already fixed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/921831 Title: command 'jar' is missing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openjdk-7/+bug/921831/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
