Tested both kernel 3.6.3 and 3.7.x rc2.  Above problem still occurs with
these kernels.

Your instructions are apreciated, very easy to follow.

** Description changed:

  The fn keys for brightness on my HP Compaq 6710b are not working. On
  ubuntu 12.04 this worked fine, now with 12.10 its doesn't.
  
- Related to this problem is the fact that the brightness setting is reset
- to 50% after rebooting or pluging in the power adapter.
