I'm not able to reproduce this even by removing /usr/bin/pyclean
temporarily, and downgrading/upgrading to/from original quantal version.
I do have a .prerm for gir1.2-unity-5.0 in /var/lib/dpkg/info/, but it
checks if pyclean exists ('which pyclean') before trying to call it, so
I'm not sure how the bug is able to occur.

pyclean is part of python-minimal which is a dependency of ubuntu-
desktop and several others. One thing you could check is that if you
have 'ubuntu-desktop' meta package installed? Other than that, you could
attach your /var/lib/dpkg/info/gir1.2-unity-5.0:i386.prerm. But it's not
clear if those will help to see what's wrong.
