IIRC, a USB hard disk with four FAT32 partitions was recognized as four disks, though. The Ubuntu version is 7.04 desktop generic kernel; hardware is eMachines T3612 (recent Celeron D with 64-bit extensions, PCI system bus, 512 MB, 120 GB SATA hard drive configured in BIOS to appear as PATA [a fix to a boot error message that reported problems with the display]), single boot environment. I'll get the lspci output tonight when I have access to the machine.
