I have the same problem with my software center. It used to work fine,
then one day no more screenshots. I am running Ubuntu 12.04. I ran the
terminal command stated above and got this:

I hope this helps in getting problems resolved. I don't know if it is
related, but my software center is usually very slow, especially with
installing programs.
