Could you please run the installer with the --debug option (`ubiquity
--debug` in a terminal window) until it crashes and attach
/var/log/syslog and /var/log/installer/debug to this report? You can
attach the logs right from Firefox on the LiveCD. On the face of it, it
looks like you may be experiencing a hardware problem, but I should be
able to see for sure with those logs.
