I emailed edimax support - I was advised to try the driver from
http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=21&PFid=48&Level=5&Conn=4&ProdID=231&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true
This doesn't work in either Ubuntu 12.10 or 12.04. (Ubuntu 12.04 has the
exact same issues as 12.10 'out the box' also )
