Hi all,

on my hp pavillion dv6 (AMD radeon hd6700m) I tested nearly every proposed
solution on the web. My problems started after upgrade from 12.04 to 12.10.
tried proprietary drivers (CATALYST 12.10, 12.4, 12.8), AND opensource one. to
no avail.
then reinstalled ubuntu 12.10 from cd. then finally I could start and use
unity. But when I ran the proposed updates I got back to the previous
situation. Even worse: it doesn not shut down nor boot correctly. I can't even
access a ctrl-alt-F* terminal.
The thing is, I've already spent half a week on this issue and have been having
my production machine out of order for the same time.
ubuntu12.10 is not for my kind of laptop, it seems.

the bottom line: NEVER UPGRADE UBUNTU WHEN IT ALEADY WORKS (ESP WHEN
IT'S A LTS!, even if you still find unity sort of buggy)
