For what it's worth: this still happened on a less-than-a-week old EC2 micros instance with with 12.04.1. I'm not sure what the process for getting this fix into the image is (should I have chosen a different image when spinning up the instance?) but I thought I report it.
The fix is (as root): echo > /etc/popularity-contest.conf dpkg-reconfigure popularity-contest -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/707311 Title: /etc/cron.daily/popularity-contest don't run due to missing/etc /popularity-contest.conf To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/popularity-contest/+bug/707311/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
