Public bug reported:

The cacti supplied with quantal (0.8.8a-3) breaks when trying to talk to
current mysql installations (5.5.28-0ubuntu0.12.10.1)

MySQL no longer accepts TYPE= on table definitions. This makes every
attempt at creating new tables in cacti fail.

The author stated in May 2012:

"I plan to make a 0.97b with this bugfix and a few others very soon.
MySQL no longer accepts TYPE= on table definitions."

This (apparently) hasn't happened, if cacti.net is anything to go by.
Meantime it's impossible to setup a new cacti installation.

** Affects: cacti (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
