There should be no issue installing the latest mainline kernel on a Precise install. You are only installing the kernel, not upgrading the system. You can move back to the original kernel after testing.
The latest mainline can be downloaded from: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.7-rc7-raring/ No need to install the headers, just the linux-image and linux-image- extras packages. ** Tags added: kernel-da-key ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1082833 Title: Failed XPS 15z boot, producing: "[Firmware Bug] ACPI(PEPG) defines _DOD but not _DOS" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1082833/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
