Hi, I'm glad to confirm that close on lid is working for me now, with 12.10 fully updated (with proposed repositories enabled), on a NP900X4C model. .
Kernel 3.5.0-19-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Tue Nov 13 17:48:01 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux. I have also upgraded my firmware to the latest officially available with the samsung firmware upgrade tool: P04AAC.
