Public bug reported:

with 100% regularity after approx 24 days and a few hours uptime, the
application panel on the left of the screen "crashes" and  becomes
completely unusable.

i cannot tell if this is compiz or unity or something else causing the
issue.

in the enterprise environment i work in, it is impossible to work with.

the only solution when this happens is to log out/in or reboot. i have
tried to re-start various unity related services and nothing seems to
fix it.

i have attached a screen shot.

for a LTS release this is, sadly, not acceptable.
