Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22

The 2.6.22 kernels overreport the amount of transmitted data by at least
a factor of 100. Even pinging makes the gnome network monitor report
around 100 kbytes/sec of outbound network activity. ifconfig claims that
I've transmitted 4 gigabytes outbound over the last four hours, which is
clearly ludicrous.

This is with a Broadcom wireless card using the bcm43xx driver on amd64.
The reported amount of inbound data seems reasonable. This error did not
occur with the 2.6.20 kernels in Feisty. I have not checked the wired
interface yet to see if it exhibits the same problem.

** Affects: linux-source-2.6.22 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
