Benjamin: I installed VLC 2.0.5 from [1], but that still did not fix these synchronization issues. The video starts, and 1-2 seconds later, the audio starts playing. (Before testing with VLC 2.0.5, I disabled the workaround and did "pulseaudio -k".)
