Actually you don't need to restart compiz to fix the problem. You can get vsync back by just changing VT: 1. Ctrl+Alt+F1 2. Ctrl+Alt+F7
This suggests it might be a driver bug (radeon). Haven't tried others yet. ** Summary changed: - [radeon] vsync is lost after removing a monitor + [radeon] vsync is lost after removing a monitor, resulting in tearing -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1088782 Title: [radeon] vsync is lost after removing a monitor, resulting in tearing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1088782/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
