As reported in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups-
pdf/+bug/487629, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups-
pdf/+bug/789311 and http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=617468 in an older version the cups-pdf
installation has become broken.
The only mention fix is to purge and reinstall the package:
dpkg --purge cups-pdf ; apt-get install cups-pdf
The accidentally broken installation isn't repaired by any new versions
of cups-pdf or cups.
So this bug report should stay open to give users a chance to find the right
solution easily.
