Public bug reported:
Downloaded the Knot 2 image edgy-alternate-i386.iso image; verified it
against the MD5SUMS file; burned it to known good CD-RW disc; booted
from this disc and selected the 'Verify CD Integrity' option (not sure
if that's the exact wording); test barely begins then I get the "red
screen of death" and the message:
"Integrity test failed"
"The ./dists/edgy/main/binary-i386/Release file failed the MD5 checksum
verification. Your CD-ROM or this file may have been corrupted."
When I enter for Continue, I get:
"got weird return code 0"
and then a lot of messages, some including "no such file or directory"
scrolling up. The only way out is a hard reset.
I've tried multiple CD-RW discs. In case the image was corrupted (even
though it passed md5sum), I downloaded again from a different mirror. I
tried burning it from both my desktop and laptop computers and tried
running the integrity check on both computers with the same results.
I should note that I got inconclusive results from the integrity check
on a Desktop imaged CD. It seemed to step through the tests but never
reported success or failure, just rebooted.
