I'm affected by this bug too under Kubuntu 12.10 64 bit, but I get the error before seeing lightdm. When lightdm shows (it takes more time when the kernel bug is shown, touchpad doesn't work. If I log in using keyboard, synaptiks complains about a touchpad hasn't been found.
I've tested a mainline kernel and it seems to be working ok, although I can't use it all the time because I can't use nvidia drivers with it. BTW I thought 2.odd 3.odd versions of kernels (3.3, 3.5, 3.7...) were development kernels, not stable as even versions. Why does an Ubuntu release uses an odd kernel? I'm attaching a kernel log of a boot showing the bug. ** Attachment added: "Full kernel log of a buggy boot" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1072173/+attachment/3459406/+files/kernel.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1072173 Title: Ubuntu 12.10 x86_64 kernel panic encountered on login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1072173/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
