Public bug reported:
The HPILP docs installed with basic Ubuntu Breezy and Dapper show HP all
in one Series C31XX as being able to be able to print and scan.
Trying this on a 3 dapper and 1 remaining breezy machine I could not get
the scanner working at all.
Compiling and installing the latest hplip tar.gz from sourceforge cured
the problem
It appears the Dapper/Breezy implementation of HPLIP is incomplete
causing at least some multifunction devices to not be able to scan (
this would preclude fax also somewhat)
Problem is definitely fixable as I did it by compiling the latest
version.
I removed all hpilp related debs, then compiled hpilp per instructions
included in hplip-1.6.7.tar.gz from sourceforge.
All functions seem to work now.
