Public bug reported:

I got red exclamation mark in my Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS with Gnome Classic
(@Dell Vostro 3750). The problem was with some not active repositories.
I disabled them and closed Application Manager. The exclamation icon was
still there, so I clicked it again (to see where is still the problem),
the menu slided down, but then the icon disapeared (the applet realized
probably, there is no problem anymore), all the text in the menu
vanished, but the gray tray did not. Gnome stopped responding, the mouse
cursor moved, but no icon was clickable. I couldn't switch to console as
well.
