Martin, commit 5db44863b6ebbb400c5e61d56ebe8f21ef48b1bd was reverted in
Raring, so this bug is fixed in Ubuntu.  However, I still would like to
work with upstream to see if this can be fixed without reverting that
commit in v3.8.
