** Description changed: I am running Kubuntu 12.10 on a toshiba Z835-P330 laptop. From within windows, the keyboard command "FN+Z" turns on and off the keyboard backlight (retrolight). From within linux, the command does nothing. Setting the backlight in the bios to "always on" turns on the backlight always, which works, but is not ideal as I have to restart to turn on or off the backlight. I can provide any dumps of hardware or anything needed. - Also, I can provide the windows driver for the backlight and would love - to help reverse it, but I have no kernel development experience (but a - decent amount of windows reverse engineering experience) + Also, I can provide the windows driver for the backlight if that is + helpful. + + Nothing shows up in /var/log/syslog on press of FN+Z, but other FN + combinations do show up.
