Ubuntu 12.10 also has this bug.
I use USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet adaptor based on AX88179 chip. Ubuntu does not
support this chip so I must use a driver from official website. This driver
requires recompiling after kernel upgrade. Any time the kernel is updated the
headers packages stay out of date but the driver works until reboot. If I
forget to upgrade the headers before reboot I must load my very old Ethernet
card driver, connect to the Internet, manually upgrade headers, recompile the
driver and unload old driver.
The package linux-headers-generic is already installed.
With best regards.
Viktor.
