Thank you Phillip for finding the mislinkeded to get gparted started. I unlinked /usr/lib/libgtkmm-2.4.so.1
xxx@xxx:$sudo unlink /usr/lib/libgtkmm-2.4.so.1 gparted starts now normally! (have no idea what I broke by unlinking the library) So the solution to this bug is to unlink libgtkmm-2.4.so.1 which is incorrectly linked to libgtkmm-3.0 by some unknown package.
