Public bug reported:
Machine: i5-2500K + Z68 chipset
Monitor: 42" TV, HDMI
The problem did not exist when using 12.04. When upgraded to 12.10,
sometimes (> 70%) during boot up it says "the system is running in low
graphics mode" and the login screen won't even show up.
The problem for 12.04 is that the screen resolution can only go up to
1366x768, but 12.10 can go with 1400x900 (however my TV actually support
1920x1080p.
I installed everything from the default ubuntu repositories, no
thirdparty graphics drivers installed. And I guess the Intel graphics
driver is already in the mainline kernel?
one more thing, if I goes to command line, and type "sudo service
lightdm restart", I can still enter the desktop, so the problem seems
not like a persistent one, more like some kind of timing issue (that's
probably why it is not happening every time).
