Firefox (firefox 17.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.12.10.1) under xubuntu 12.10 still pulls in firefox-globalmenu (firefox-globalmenu 17.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.12.10.1) as a dependency.
The package firefox-globalmenu provides a Firefox Extension which adds support to Firefox for the Unity appmenu. However, xubuntu does not include Unity. So this firefox dependency pulls in useless garbage without any functionality. This is not only a matter of package size but also a core design principle: Linux packages should only be included as dependencies when they provide essential or indispensable functionality. This dependency should therefore be removed from the firefox package. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1085536 Title: Xubuntu has firefox-globalmenu package witch it cant use To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1085536/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
