Public bug reported: Normally, my CD drive works fine. If I insert an Audio CD into the drive, it'll load perfectly well.
If I then eject the first audio CD, and insert a new one, it doesn't show up in the Unity launcher (as removable devices usually do), or in the Devices section of the File Manager left side-pane. However, I happen to be using a program called MusicBrainz Picard, which is able to read the CD TOC. So this indicates to me that my CD drive isn't at fault. I've run "lshw" as has been suggested in some Google search results for similar problems. I've extracted the relevant section for the drive, and that output can be seen at: http://pastebin.com/SZ7VMkCt Let me know if I can run anything else to gather useful information.
