today I downloaded the latest builds of Quantal & Raring... I booted them with GRML-rescueboot with the following results:
I elected to use the "try" option rather than a full install.... Quantal 1) Quantal stopped at the purple screen of death for 10-15 seconds, but then continued loading like normal....even Unity 3d seemed to work as I could resize the icons....I could change the background image at will....was able to connect to the net with Firefox.... however....when trying to go to the Dash my screen randomly changed colors and ended with diagonal lines....it was frozen at this point & needed a power down/up cycle to get back to GRUB....this happened the 1st time I tried to use Quantal only.... when trying again to use Quantal I now get a black screen with error messages stating "Nouveau failed to idle channel 1, chan 2"....the errors repeat until I once again cycle the power to get back to GRUB.... Raring 2) Raring got to the "try" option, but then went to the purple screen of death and froze.....only option was power cycle to get back to GRUB..... I am still using 12.04.1 LTS with the older 173 nvidia driver...it works perfectly for me Tommy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1085548 Title: [Regression] cannot boot since kernel 3.2.0.34 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1085548/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
