I did not observe any suspend but when I start a sound check I observe a
flickering of the control bar of the screen. It seems to me that the
output of the sound is not directed to the speaker but to the screen.

The speaker-test in 11.04 gives back an error message compared to the
test in 12.10. Is this the reason, that in 11.04 something is wrong but
the sound is ok and in 12.10 all is ok but not the sound?

regards
