I have the same issue with a Canon 1023N shared over ethernet. I have tried other printers as well and none will print from my Ubuntu 12.10 machine.
All I do is add the printer, and try to print a test page. Currently impossible. Cups shows the job sent and completed successfully but printer doesn't register anything.
