I must admit it's not clear to me how to perform the test. The
problem arose UPGRADING from Breezy to Dapper. It was solved by doing
a fresh install of Dapper. In order to repeat the procedure, I'd have
to reinstall Breezy, then attempt to upgrade to Dapper. Is it even
possible to reinstall Breezy? As far as I know, no one reported
having the same problem with the Mobility Radeon when upgrading from
Dapper to Edgy, or Edgy to Feisty.

As I've stated before, I'd prefer to keep my laptop running Dapper so
that I can provide long term support to Kubuntu Dapper users on
KubuntuForums.net.
