Hmm. I was attempting to make an ARM based 'initramfs' system. I did a 'cpio -idv' and this trashed a bunch of files in my system. I had to download the '.deb' packages and force a re-install. This got my system working. I ran through the directories associated with the 'initramfs' to ensure all the files were replaced, however, I might have missed on.
