I took your suggestion and installed "linux-generic-lts-quantal" from http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/package/core/precise/main/updates/linux- generic-lts-quantal . However, I am once again facing the same problem as before: the wl driver loads and my wireless is detected, but does not seem to be able to get past the authentication stage.
