Rich Drewes, thank you for testing the commit reversion. Now, please delete all 
the .deb files that got generated on your Desktop, and perform the next 
test,which will include the suspected commit:
cd ~/Desktop/linux-stable && git checkout 
b74f05d61b73af584d0c39121980171389ecfaaa && cp /boot/config-`uname -r` .config 
&& yes '' | make oldconfig && make-kpkg clean && CONCURRENCY_LEVEL=`getconf 
_NPROCESSORS_ONLN` fakeroot make-kpkg --initrd --append-to-version=-custom 
kernel_image kernel_headers && cd .. && sudo dpkg -i *.deb

then reboot into the new kernel and test. Please report the results.
