Public bug reported: Please support the XDG base directory specification. This will make backups noticeably easier and will help reduce the excessively cluttered home directory problem.
Other thumbnailers on my Ubuntu 13.04 Alpha system are saving to $XDG_CACHE_HOME/thumbnails but gnome-exe-thumbnailer is saving to the older ~/.thumbnails directory.
