Public bug reported: System: 12.10 Kernel: 3.5.0.22 Wired lan: Artheos AR8162 Wireless lan: Broadcom BCM4313 (driver: Broadcom STA) Lenovo G580
If I want to use the wired lan, I have to install linux-backports-cw package, but then the WLAN stops working. Removing the backports package, I won't have wired lan, but the WLAN works again. So my guess is backports package has compatibility problems with the broadcom drivers. Packages tried: linux-backports-modules-cw-3.6-quantal-generic linux-backports-modules-cw-3.6-3.5.0-22-generic How I find I need linux backports for wired lan: http://askubuntu.com/questions/205582/how-do-i-get-an-atheros-ar8162-working How I find solution for lack of wireless: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1610246 So I have a "hacky" solution, every time I want to use wired lan, I install the backports package, then remove if I want to use WLAN, but I need a permanent solution. I searched trough askubuntu and ubuntuforums, but no one had this 0/1 - 1/0 exact problem, as me. Btw. when first installed Ubuntu on this machine, 3.5.0.17 had no such problems, it started with 0.21. ** Affects: linux-backports-modules-3.5.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1106163 Title: AR8162 and BCM4313 compat. problem To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-backports-modules-3.5.0/+bug/1106163/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
