Public bug reported:

Hardware config:
AMD64, sda (primary), hda, hdb, hdc
All HDDs have ext3

The Gutsy AMD64 Tribe2 LiveCD recognized and mounted all my HDDs.

Three Gutsy install options exist, % of disk, guided, and manual. I
installed Gutsy using % and guided. I tried to use manual too, but it
crashed the installer. For both installs, everything appeared to work
fine, until I restarted.

Upon restart, I got the following error message:
Error 17: Cannot mount selected partition
Press any key to continue ...
So I pressed the space bar and the normal Grub menu came up showing Gutsy,
Gutsy safe mode, and memory test. I tried each one, but only got Error 17. To
reiterate, this happens regardless of install method.

So I physically disconnected hda, hdb, and hdc and reinstalled. It
worked fine. Then I shut down, reconnected the HDDs, and rebooted. This
too works.

This is all the information I have collected. If you want me to
reinstall with all or some of the HDDs again and execute explicit
instructions, I would be glad to help.

** Affects: Ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
