Adam, I'm running a Lenovo T410. I already added the mac_hid module to
my initramfs and that fixed the issue on the Precise 3.2.0 kernel.

$ grep -v ^# /etc/initramfs-tools/modules

usbhid
hid
mac_hid

Few days ago, I moved to linux-image-3.5.0-23-generic and now with this
Quantal kernel, the workaround doesn't work anymore.
