I reproduced this behavior again in safe mode. gdb suddenly prints "ptrace: No such process". I attach the new log, but I'm afraid this one doesn't help either. Is there a mechanism in Ubuntu which automatically kills applications which use too much memory/CPU over an extended period? The behavior now is that at some point the system doesn't respond any more because firefox uses up all resources. After a while firefox suddenly terminates. I'm really sorry I'm never able to get a backtrace, but I guess the reason is it just gets killed (?). So, the issue still exists and is reproducible on my system, but it is not of big importance because I only encounter it with this specific livestream flash page.
