Public bug reported:
ac100-tarball-installer fails to preserve mtimes (it uses 'tar xm'
rather than just 'tar x'). This means that the GTK+ icon caches can
appear to be out of date with respect to the icons alongside them, and
no doubt many other similar problems. On my system, this costs 300KB in
update-notifier's USS as reported by smem, since update-notifier has to
reconstruct the icon theme in memory instead of just mapping the cache.
