Public bug reported:

This may be two errors, but until I know more, I will report it in a
single report, because they appeared at the same time so they may be
connected.

After today's package updates (+ a reboot) the ethernet connection
stopped working on my notebook. Network Manager doesn't show any
ethernet connections anymore. I also ruled out general hardware
malfunction by booting into WinXP, which can still make use of both eth0
and wifi.

I suspect the following package upgrades may be involved:

- isc-dhcp-client and isc-dhcp-common upgraded from
4.1.ESV-R4-0ubuntu5.5 to 4.1.ESV-R4-0ubuntu5.6

- upstart upgraded from 1.5-0ubuntu7 to 1.5-0ubuntu7.2

- ubuntu-minimal upgraded from 1.267 to 1.267.1

- bcmwl-kernel-source upgraded from 5.100.82.38+bdcom-0ubuntu6.1 to
6.20.155.1+bdcom-0ubuntu0.0.1

(After I post this, I will try downgrading the above and see if the bug
ceases to happen.)

Also I noticed that an error appears while booting, and managed to find
it in the syslog, see attached syslog_part file.

The error seems to be about wifi configuration but that is as much I can
understand about syslog entries...

Also it may be worth noting that the built-in wifi of the notebook has
not worked with Ubuntu releases for ~2 years, neither does it now.

(Sorry for the bug quality, I'm in a bit of rush right now, will add
more details in a matter of days.)
