Finally, I repeated the test with the 3.8.0-rc5 kernel from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.8-rc5-raring/. I get
the same results as above (i.e. doesn't work). I'll set the appropriate
tag on this one.
